If I install Norton IS 2006 on one HDD will it automatically scan and protect my other HDD and drives?
Also, I have two hard drives: a 20gb Seagate and a 60gb Samsung.
Which would I be better installing Windows on, as I want to keep the other one for installing programs alone on and then just dragging shortcuts to my desktop: that way, I can reinstall Windows when it's getting slow (because I really cannot be bothered defragging it!) whilst keeping all of my installed programs intact.
Heh: this is hard to choose the best answer - but thanks to both of you anyway.
Congratulations to Doyler78 who has just won the Best Answer award for this question (I've got to stop pretending to be hosting an awards ceremony! lol)

I think you have answered the second part yourself. use the smaller driver for the windows installation as your programs and their associated data will take up far more space than the operating system.
As for Norton. It will scan all hard drives which are viewable.

Yes, you can install on one and protect all. Install windows on the smaller drive and put your files on the larger. However, I feel I have to let you know that you don't reinstall Windows OS just because you don't want to defrag your disk because defragging would affect only the data files your accessing and not the OS. Plus Defragging isn't as big of a deal today as in yesteryear as most people have HUGE drives with lots of space and defragging isn't necessary unless and until you get close to filling up your hard drive or if your planning on backing up your entire PC.
If you do defrag, I recommend doing it overnight that way your not having to wait on it. It can do it while you sleep.

Norton IS will detect and scan all drives available on your system. Youy can let it scan and protect all drives or only the ones you want. It is customizable.
As for the Windows install - the bigger the drive the better I've always found.
