  • How do I work out the mass of a chemical, given how much I use of a different chemical?

There's just a few questions I'm stuck with, here when I was revising my Chemistry - please can you show your working, too!

    Thanks

    a) What mass of CO2 is formed from 100g of CaCO3?

    b) What mass of CaO is formed from 1g of CaCo3?

    c) What mass of CaCO3 must have reacted to produce 88g CO2?

Finally, and thanks guys, there's this...

If the RMM of any gas occupies 24L [1L = 1dm3], determine the mass of CaCo3 which must have decomposed to produce 156dm3 of CO2.

  • BT Technical Support in the UK?

I really need the number for BT Technical Support in the UK. All of the numbers on the BT Support website, with the exception of Sales and Billing Enquiries, redirect themselves to a call-centre in India. I've heard that there's a call centre in Dublin and one in Edinburgh.

Does any one have the number? Preferably a direct dial number, such as 01********* or 02********* but an 08 number will do.

  • The drivers for my sound card don't work. Where can I find alternatives?

I have a VIA Audio HD-Compliant Sound Card in my Advent 7109A laptop, which runs Windows Vista Home Premium. Windows installed my sound card for me with it's own, presumably 'generic' drivers, but it didn't work. I then uninstalled it in Device Manager and installed the drivers that Advent gave me on a CD - this didn't work either and the installation program says that it "could not find a HD audio device". I then Googled the sound card and I found the manufacturer [Via]'s website and I downloaded the drivers from there. They didn't install either - the installation program also said it "could not find a HD audio device".

Has anyone got any ideas? I'm stuck!

  • OpenSUSE 10.2 Installation hangs at hardware detection?

    Hello.

I've got a copy of OpenSUSE 10.2 on DVD from a British magazine called Linux Format. When I try to install it with YaST2, the installation hangs at the hardware detection screen.

I was able to install OpenSUSE 10.1 a month or two ago from CDs that I download via BitTorrent from the OpenSUSE website a while ago, however I want the latest version of OpenSUSE on my PC. The only downgrade I made to the system was to remove the third-party graphics card [and so make the system use the integrated graphics chipset] and put it in a PC that needed it more than mine.

    Any ideas?

I'm willing to try everything: after all, it's an old PC - and I am tech-literate, so you can use tech language!

Step by step instructions, would, however, be nice!

    Thanks in advance

  • Installing Apache HTTPd 2.2 correctly on a remote disk?

I have already tried installing it to the remote disk - in this case Z:/ - but the Apache service will not start because it is expecting a file called httpd.exe to exist at a location on my hard drive. Therefore, the Apache server is useless.

Could I copy the httpd.exe file to the directory that the service is expecting to find it at, and still keep a copy on Z:/?

    Thanks in advance

  • Requiring user credentials for a shared hard drive?

I am sharing a second hard drive with others on my WiFi network. This is primarily because it's easier to maintain PCs when files are stored on a central hard-drive.

I would like to know how to assign usernames and passwords to folders on this drive?

Secondly, is it possible to create a 'public' folder (ie one that everyone can access without usernames/passwords)?

  • Has anyone got Avance AC97 sound card drivers?

    Google's results are all rubbish.

I really just want the drivers plain and simple - no fussing around with downloading other crap along the way.

If anyone has the drivers and wants to send them to me, I'd appreciate them - I don't mind what format they're in.

The AC97 is running on an eMachines 370.

  • How do I uninstall OpenSuSE 10.1 when Windows won't detect the second hard drive and GRUB does not load?

I think the question is fairly self explanatory.

GRUB is a dualboot loader that came preinstalled with OpenSuSE which enables you to choose which OS to boot from.

  • If I install Norton IS 2006 on one HDD will it automatically scan and protect my other HDD and drives?

Also, I have two hard drives: a 20gb Seagate and a 60gb Samsung.

Which would I be better installing Windows on, as I want to keep the other one for installing programs alone on and then just dragging shortcuts to my desktop: that way, I can reinstall Windows when it's getting slow (because I really cannot be bothered defragging it!) whilst keeping all of my installed programs intact.

  • Configuring wireless PCI card on OpenSuSE 10.1?

I've got a USRobotics 802.11g Wireless PCI Turbo Adapter installed in my PC and I dual-boot with XP Home and OpenSuSE 10.1 (installed on different hard drives!). How do I get the PCI card to work with OpenSuSE?

I've tried using NDISWrapper but the .tar.gz file I downloaded doesn't seem to want to unpack itself within OpenSuSE. I'm unpacking it without using any third-party unpacking tools.
