Can my 7 month old kitten still get erections 1 day after getting neutered?

I just saw he had an erection, but he just got fixed. Does this mean the surgery wasn't done right?

Yes, he can, and even older neutered cats can get erections and I once had a neutered cat who had been neutered for many years, end up with an abscess in his ear when he got bit by a spayed female who also had been spayed for years, who didnt appreciate his attempts to try to breed her, and finally gave him a bite to get the message across. I knew once of a breeder of show cats who had a neutered male who would go through the mechanics of breeding and she kept him with her females because when he went through the motions of breeding them, it would bring them out of heat. Intact female cats don't ovulate until stimulated to ovulate by the breeding act (even without sperm), and once they ovulate, they then go out of heat. Most cats don't try to breed after neutering, but this story just illustrates how far the range of normal can go, so you have nothing to worry about with your kitten.

It does take six weeks after neutering, for hormone levels to totally drop.

He still has some testosterone stored in his system. The same thing happened to my neutered dog, after the surgery. Ask your doctor to be sure, but don't worry. They can even have sex after being neutered, but they are sterile.

Totally normal, it usually takes a couple of months for their bodies to rid themselves of the hormones. Our puppy was neutered a month ago, and he still plays with himself, lol.

Hi yes it is & I had a cat a number of years ago that even though he was fixed he would still mate females...no kittens of course but he did still mate...Regards Jake

Neutering is to stop the production of sperm, not the blood flow to the penis.
