Mollie's Daddy asked in PetsFish · 1 decade ago

Why are there so many bubbles is my beta fish's bowl?

He doesn't appear to be eating. It's been a week, and he's still right side up.

If there are a cluster of bubbles it is because he is healthy and happy. He is making a bubble nest.

If there are just a few bubble and he is not very active, then he may be sick.

Watch him to see if his is actively making a bubble nest or if he is making bubbles when he goes up to the surface for air.

If he is making bubble when he goes to breathe then he may be sick and you may need to treat him.

here is a good site for betta care information

it's a very good thing. Male bettas make bubble nests when they are very happy and healthy, and ready to breed. If the nest becomes very THICK, it means he's ready to breed. if you have a pregnant female, you can put them together for a little bit, and they will spawn. Basically the male will squeeze the eggs out of the female, then the female will float around for awhile. take out the female and put her into her bowl, and the male will start picking up eggs with his mouth, and put them into the bubble nest. But most of them will have floated up to the top into the bubbles by itself.

hes is either making a "bubble nest" or if the bubble are covering the top...... that means dust has settled on the water and you need to clean the cage... if she hasnt been eating its probably because of the dust layer
