There is a reference for that, but it's for something different. Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus - and the Christmas tree is simply a western decoration.

The origin of the "adorned tree" is from Jeremiah 10:2-4.

But this wasn't for Christmas it was for a pagan holiday called "Saturnalia". In ancient times the winter solstice was celebrated in Babylon as the birth day of Tammuz, the god of vegetation. According to the pagans, the god Nimrod would visit the evergreen tree and leave gifts upon it. This festival became known as the Saturnalia, and friends and family would exchange gifts.

You can make your choice, but to decorate something beautiful in your home is not a pagan offering or symbol unless you say it is. Don't give something negative like this anymore power by having fear over a decorated tree in your home.

A lot of what we do today, even as Christians, originated from pagan rituals. But what we need to remember is that what man originally intended for evil, God will turn to good. We aren't bound by pagan laws and rituals anymore - we don't have to be. We can enjoy and celebrate Christmas any way we like, giving glory to God.

Blessings on your house this Christmas.

Try not to get too stuck on that scripture.....The key word here is CHRISTmas...New Testament ....we are not under the laws any more. Christmas is clearly not about a ritual that was for false gods, but for the Birth of our Savior...Gods' Son...Immanuel. I teach my children that the evergreen tree we use for Christmas is a symbol of hope in many ways. 1. it is an evergreen, a sign of hope to endure through a harsh winter. 2. it is the shape of a triangle which represents the trilogy 3. it represents what Jesus was born for...to die on a tree for our sins.

Keep your perspectives and don't go searching for laws and rituals that may use some of the same words, but do not apply.

Hope you have a Blessed Christmas.

Just like Stellla (first person toanswer) said, the holiday isn't bad, it's how you take it as. Mostly all the holidays are from pagan based religions. but God has given us the opportnity to take them in his word and meaning.
