you can get a exturnal hard drive case and put the the hard drive in it and get the data off it that way, or you can put the drive in to the computer.

To change your HD from your bad to the good computer or use an external drive bay is the best thing you can do!

Keep in mind, if you have been downloading a lot, there's a good chance your drive if also packed with ad ware, mal ware, worms and fragmented programs!

Windows uses any remaining space on your HD as Virtual Memory (swap file) even if you have stored so much that windows has very little, it will continue to run, but very slowly!

It will giving you the impression that Windows is no longer working!

When actually, you will see a "Blue Screen" that tells you if that happens!

Transfer the hard drive to the computer that is running to your satisfaction, making sure to change the jumper settings on the back or you will have another computer that's not working!

Your going to need to re-boot Windows to get it to recognize the addition and install the drivers necessary.

When Windows comes back up successfully, make sure your next step is to run any cleaner program to clean the disk of all the ad ware mal ware or worms then run a defragment program and expect the process to take a while, it will be worth the time!

If its compleely gone, and it doesnt turn on or it simple wont start up. Buy a hard drive caddy which allwos your to put the hard drive which is in the faulty computer into the caddy so you can use it as an external hard drive via USB. So bascially it would be like a storage device but external one which you can carry around too. To access the files, when its connected to the pc it will appear as another drive, double click and search through the files.

Take the hard drive out of the old computer. Set the jumpers on the back of it to "slave" and put it into the good computer.

I think you could get an external harddrive on ebay for around

30 bucks. That should do the job and when you're done using it you can erase it's memory and use it as a handy second drive

    always good to have

If the hard drive is good you can make it a slave and hook it up in the good computer and save the downloads

Depending on the type of the drive(PATA or SATA) you might be able to hook it up to the good computer and then transfer them like that.

Another thing you could try is sharing a folder on the GOOD computer and then transfering files to it from the BAD one.

To share files via networking go here http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networkin...

    crashed as in... Crashed?

Or crashed as in -- I can't turn my computer on...

If it just "crashed" and the computer still works, simply send everything over msn?

If your computer is unable to function properly, you're pretty much SOL, unless you can put that computers HD into the good computer while keeping the good computer's HD as well.

yea remove the harddrive and put it into the other computer and then search the internet for file recovery software.
