Holistic dentist? What the heck...
ANY and ALL Dentist, can remove Amalgam fillings. It's not a speciality procedure. It's an everyday job, we (they) all do. Just go to a Dentist, tell him your wanting the Metal fillings out and replaced with Composites (tooth colored fillings). Some insurances will pay.. some will not. I will tell you though, it is costly, having Composites placed. Also, most Dentist will charge you to remove Amalgams from your mouth and replaced if there isnt a justified reason for the removal.
**Plain and simple... Amalgam fillings ARE NOT life threatening!! People panic without cause, when they hear that Amalgams have Mercury in them. So what.... Alot of things have Mercury in its contents, and you dont know it! FOOD.. for example!! Especially, if you eat ..Sea food! Hate to tell you, BUT its true. Anyways, back to the point.. there is such LOW amounts of Mercury inside Amalgams, it is NOT harmful to your health! The only time is would be is if you have an allergy to the metal itself. Then and only then, does it make people sick.
*People really, need to understand and know facts.. before that freak out about it! Not to mention.. removing it, can cause one self more harm than placing it! The vapors/dust from removal... can be harmful, if ingested/inhaled. And even then.. it would take an 'ungodly' amount, to do any damage!!

You can walk-in at:
NYU Dental School:
It's less expensive than a private dentist
For fast treatment, when you get there
and register in the lobby, say it's an Emergency,
so you don't have to wait a long time.

All dentists can safely remove mercury fillings from your mouth. If your filling is still functioning properly, then there is no reason to get them removed. There is no substaintial evidence that mercury fillings do any harm to you.

My sister did. Then the composite (white) fillings were placed, and by no skill contained in the most specialist way. 5 years later they bumped off the composites and replaced with amalgams (silver fillings). Now the tooth are extremely compromised and he or she is getting crowns. So, one aspect to contemplate is that each and every time a filling is bumped off, slightly better strong teeth structure is likewise bumped off, affecting the integrity of tooth.

Dr. Wilson and Hart in upstate New York are two of the best. I worked for them for a number of years as an assistant. Honestly though, I wouldnt remove them unless they is recurring decay, or they NEED to be replaced. WHen you remove them, the Dr. will also be removing tooth structure. If its not broke dont fix it! There are dentists that are money hungry, without ethics or interity beware!!

Jontara is right. Besides, *removing* the fillings will cause you to be exposed to more mercury than simply having them in your mouth.

Go to a dentist and tell him or her to put in a regular filling there
