I need help with my foreign exchange roommate?
Ok, I share a dorm room with 3 other girls. One of them is a foreign echange girl from Korea. The 3 of us are having problems adjusting with her. We all agreed with our RA that from 10pm-10am that the air conditioning remain on because we all get really hot at night when it's off. Every other night/morning she wakes up and turns on the heater. Then one of us get's up to turn the AC on.
We've told her that we all agreed for the AC to be on and to not change it but she still does anyways. We even gave her blankets and a portable heater for her to use at night. Whether she uses them I'm not sure.
ALSO: The 3 of us are not use to the cooking smells of korean cooking. It's a quite pungent and strong and every morning around 7:30 am she cooks her breakfast which is like fried spam and onions.
This is all becoming really annoying and I'm want to tell her this but in a nice way .Please help us before we all kill her. LOL! Thanks...

That is really bad..sorry to hear that. Be honest and straight with her (but in a nice way), I would talk to her and tell her how you all feel. I you don't tell her anything, how is she going to know? Try to work things out. It is better for her to hear it from you than from another person (RA). She will understand...hopefully. Good luck!!

I'm sorry to tell you but the only thing that could possible happen is you all set down and "intervention" with her for a lack of a better term , anyway she will have a great deal of understanding to the difference in cultures, but where I'm going with this is you all will have to find her a new place with Korean roommates.
I worked at an apartment complex in Austin that had about 50% Asian grad students and the rest mostly American, so I've seen everything when it comes to roommates.
But you know, you girls don't have to run that AC so freeken cold either. And tell her not to cook in the dorm room, I don't know what university dorm always it.

Maybe she thinks the heater is the air con. lol. and she may think she's being nice to you all by turning it on beofre you all get up. and as for the food you sure its spam it might be the neighbours dog and thats the closest thing she can cook to a dim sim. lol

the bathe at the same time component isn't any indication I were to Japan and thats what all of them do, all have their showers next to at least one yet another then all go in a unmarried huge bath at the same time

keep going to your r.a......dont mess with your roommate too much because the school is going to be protective of her.....{exchange student} if the r.a isnt much help then go to a higher up...above r.a!do it the correct way ......they are VERY protective of them!!!! youll be seen as the problem if you try to handle it the wrong way! so think first......then act.....if she complains....theyll react faster for her than you girls......get the picture?
