Has the 2006 election divided the country more than any time since the Civil War?

Politics has always been dirty, but can you think of when it was worse than it is right now?

Just in the USA? Well then certain topics around these dates come to mind: 1992-2000, 1972-74, 1965-1975, 1960, 1944. Apart from the Nixon dates, that's all democrat work. I'm not American, btw.

Honestly, 2004 was more contentious than 2006's is, but its simply because presidential elections will always draw more attention. I'd say 2004 was one of the most intense in a long time though. However, I will agree that 2006 is one of the most hotly debated congressional midterm elections in a while, at least since '94

I'm 57, and I see more discontent in this country than I have so far in my life. Where it's going, and where it will end up is far beyond me.

We are in a culture war with our fellow countrymen. Until the Liberal left either wakes up or shuts up, it will continue.
