With lots of love, affection and attention. Speak softly to your little bird and handle softly as well. Cockatiels will land on the back of your hand rather than your finger like smaller birds. Some times it seems they are pecking at you when they are not. They use their beak to pull themselves up or maneuver. Don't pull away from your bird in a fast and jerky way. This will only frighten it and slow down the process of winning it's trust. It might be a good idea to just leave the cage door open when there is only one or two people in the room at a time, Then ignore the bird, this way it will venture out on it's own and not feel threatened. Once it sees you are not a threat it will warm up to you.

Try getting a species treat that she likes and hand feeding her while she is in the cage. Then slowly work on being able to do it outside the cage. Step by step or in this case seed by seed

When the bird pecks you, don't flinch and don't move your hand away. If you do, it gives her strength and the feeling of being in charge. Let her peck all she wants. If you show her who the boss is, she soon figure out she isn't so tough and stop doing it.
