Tips on getting people to do survey?
Today is voting day and I am part of a group that is doing exit polling for a study of voting trends, etc. and we mainly have questions of demographics and not of who they voted for. Do you have any experience or tips for me to get people to actually take this survey? It takes about 3 minutes.

You will almost always get nonresponse; there is no avoiding it. In an exit poll you generally get anywhere from 40 to 60 percent response. You will find that women are more likely to response to a survey including exit polls. Also research has been done on incentives. If you give the voters something (anything) they are more likely to respond.
Keep in mind just because you get nonresponse doesn't mean you survey is going to be biased. You must make sure you RANDOMLY sample the voters. Sample every nth person that exits.

Lots of us don't want to spend 3 minutes so some organization can have this survey data. It's simply a numbers game. The more people you ask the more yeses you'll get. The nos are just part of the game.
