If "The Truth Hurts" ... is it then appropriate to lie?

We all feel that lying is inappropriate, but some of us suffering from "Foot in Mouth Syndrome" would prefer to "lie" than say the wrong thing and make someone else feel bad. The world is not "Black or White" so where does the "Grey" area come into play?

If hiding the truth does not physically or emotionally hurt a person than it is sort of alright to disguise the truth. Outright lying is never a good solution. It always creates more pain than it prevents.

The only reason to hide the truth is to reduce pain. The best way to handle that is to disguise the truth. That way you have not so much lied, as made the truth sound a bit more gentle.

    Take care,

Sometime lying is appropriate. That's where judgement and maturity come in. Just because something may be true doesn't make it helpful.
