Is my calculator being stupid? Limit problem.?

Given:

Limit as x->0 of sin3x/2x.

My work:

Lim sin3x/2x = Lim 3/2 * Lim sinx/x = 3/2 *1 = 3/2,

but my calculator insists that it is zero.

Am I remembering something wrong?

    Your answer is right, you may have typed the question wrong into your calculator. The syntax I have is (sin(3*x)/(2*x)). Remember that calculators follow the order of operations to the letter. If you put in sin(3x)/2x, the calculator interprets this as (sin(3x)/2)*x. Essentially, x*sin(3x)/2, which goes to zero.

  • Are you in the right mode? remember radians not degrees. And zero is a limt because if you put zero in it creates division by zero which can't be done so zero is kind of limit called a hole.

    the machine is always a machine. the machine don't have a mind.

    Even your computer don't have a mind.

    All depend on the information you give to him.
