First month on birth control pill...now have to take the four sugar pills but I haven't gotten my period yet

I'm assuming I just keep taking the pills as normal (meaning the sugar pills for the next four days) and my period will come soon...and then start the new pack four days from now regardless of when my period comes? Maybe since this is my first month my system isn't set yet so I just assumed I would get my period when I was to start taking the sugar pills...Any suggestions (and I know it takes a good 6-8 weeks for the pills to work but I know I am not pregnant)...

I hate how most people lie to you when they tell you that it takes 6-8 weeks for the pills to work. It doesn't. It takes 6-8 weeks to work out all the kinks and that's when your body should be used to them. But they start protecting against pregnancy 7-10 days after taking the first pill. When I first started taking them, the nurse told me the same thing. I think they just tell us that to scare us so we won't have sex. But my regular doctor and my gyno told me I would be ok to have sex without a back up method 7-10 days later. Sorry for that little rant... back to your period. I'm assuming you're taking Yaz or one of the new BCPs that only have 4 blank pills. I recently had a little bit of scare with mine. This was my first month on them and on the 4th day of taking the blank pills I still hadn't gotten my period. The other BCPs i was on I only had to take 3 of the blanks and that's when my period would start and last 4 days and stop when I took the first pill of the new pack. So I was super scared. I finally got my period on the first day that I started a new pack. I was relieved. But the papers that come in the box say that you may not have your period that first month because your body hasn't adjusted to the new levels of hormones. But what I can tell you is that it is super handy. My period lasted a little over 2 days. Which is wonderful. And they're really light, which is nice too. I wouldn't worry about it if you don't get your period this month if it's the first month you're taking them, if you skip it on your 2nd month, you should talk to your doctor. But just keep taking the pills and you should get it soon. The blank pills really don't do anything, they're more like reminder pills. Your body is used to a heavy dose of hormones every day which make your ovaries not work. So they have realize that when they're not getting those hormones that they have to work. That's why you won't get it the first or second day of taking the blank pills. Just make sure you're taking them at about the same time everyday. That makes them more effective.

Same thing here, I don't get my period until the third or forth day of sugar pills. It takes time for the hormanes to adjust. You'll have you period for a couple of days on the normal pills. Period can last from 3 days to a full week.

My period never starts until I take the first sugar pill. Sometimes it's on the second or third one, but it's always one of those three days. It may take a month or two for your system to regulate, but once it does, it's pretty dependable. If it's not dependable, I'd discuss it with your doctor, but I'd bet your ok.

Just continue to take the sugar pills. And then start your new pack of pills when you are done with the sugar pills. Regardless if you get your period or not. Being on the pill will most likely make your periods lighter and shorter. I usually get my period on the third or fourth day of taking the sugar pill.

keep taking them exactly as your dr and the pharmaceutical co instructs. you might not get your period 'til the 2nd or 3rd pack (especially if it's not a low-dose pill, it takes your body a long time to adjust)

It may take a few more days. The sugar pills let your endometrium sluff off and it may take a few days for it to do that when you body has been on hormones.

The sugar pills are just so that you won't forget to take them to begin with. I honestly think you cheated and didn't wait an actual month like your supposed to before having unprotected sex! You might be pregnant!!

Hello sweety. I didn't stop to answer your question because i don't know it. the reason why stopped is to warn you about the dangers of using birth control pills. Doctors won't tell you that they could kill you. My girlfriend took them for 10 years just to find out why she developed cysts or her breast during all that time. I have been with her for 2 years, and we decided that she would not take them for her own good.

Doctors will give you the pills for free in many case, but they won tell you the big dangers these pills hide, just like they don't tell people of the dangers of Tylenol and they (Dr's) still tell people to take them. Please, read about this online. You could go to www.mercola.com and find out about whatever. Dr. Mercola is the best.

    Take care...
