I have endometriosis my doctor wants to put me on Danazol, has anyone out there used it before?

I have done some research over the internet and it sounds horrible. I have one doctor that says use it and another that says don't. Any ideas?

Update:

Okay, I was told 5 and 1/2 years ago that I have endo. I have tried pills, patches, shots, 3 surgeries, and countless pain meds. Right now because of my age (27) the insurance company will not approve the doctor's to take out the problem parts....however my doctor really wants me to try the Danazol. My specialist I see doesn't want me on it because of the side effects. I have read some info on the web and the side effects sound horrible and some can be life altering for good. I am worried sick. I am running out of choices. I was hoping that someone who read this might have taken this medicine or known someone who has, also it would be nice to talk to someone else who has dealt with the pain of this horrible illness. Please I will listen to anyone who answers...

I have never tried the medicine but I have severe and agressive endometriosis. I was officially diagnosed this January after 7 years of pain that other doctors dismissed. I had my lap done in January. It didn't relieve any of my pain. I still get those horrible, indescrible pains every month. I have found no medications or treatments that work for me. My doc wants to take out my ovaries first before doing a complete hysto later in life (I'm 29). I told him that he could have them once I was done with them. (After over 3 years of trying to conceive, I am finally pregnant with my first child by IVF.)

I have always been an advocate for doing your own research and getting a second opinion. Perhaps if you got a few second opinions stating that you need to remove it all, then your insurance may pay for it. However I have read about some women who have had everything taken out and they still get pain from their endo. How horrible and unfair is that??

I hope that you find something to relieve your pain. Good Luck!!

I know you say your insurance want pay because of your age,but I would make arrangements and have a hysterectomy. It is your best option and the Danazol is just too dangerous.
