Do Muslims believe in the book of Genesis?

If so, how much of it? Does the Qu'ran reference it or restate it? What does Islam teach about the creation of the world?

the name given to the Bible is called "Injiel". such as Torah is for children of Israel. and Quran is for the muslims.

God mentioned in the Quran that the earth and heavens created in 6 days, then He rose over his Throne. sadly there is errors in the Bible translation, they translate "ROSE OVER HIS THROWN" as "TAKING A REST", which is wrong.

one day to God is equal to 1000 years.

[54] Indeed your Lord is Allâh, Who created the heavens and the earth in Six Days, and then He rose over (Istawâ) the Throne (really in a manner that suits His Majesty). He brings the night as a cover over the day, seeking it rapidly, and (He created) the sun, the moon, the stars subjected to His Command. Surely, His is the Creation and Commandment. Blessed be Allâh, the Lord of the 'Alamîn (mankind, jinn and all that exists)!

    Quran 7:54

Moses wrote much more detail in Genesis about creation, the fall, the flood, babel, and the stoies of Abraham Isaac Jacob and Joseph... They 'sort of do' believe and 'sort of don't' because modern Muslims believe the Old and New testaments are corrupt whith the original lost ... and so ....for all pactical purposeses they tend to ignore it and set it aside focusing only on the Koran

This is quite ironic because the Koran says Chrstians should check their Gospels and Jews shoudl check their Torahs to see what the Koran said is true and puts Mohammed under a fairly serious dilemna of why he offered that test... if they didnt agree why did he give it... if they could no longer be compared why did he give it in the 7th century... and if Jews and Chrstians check their TOrah and Goseel and they dont agree, the only command given by Mohammed...then... it seems to weigh against the Koran claims being true

As far as the question at hand...there is a detailed comparison of creation accounts at the AIG web sitefor a detailed comparison...and an interesting one

I THINK technically they believe in some parts.

I know they believe in the story of Abraham. They disagree with Jews and Christians about which son was the one taken to the mountain and nearly sacrificed.

That they believe Ishmael was the son who was blessed makes me think they wouldn't appreciate the rest of the book of Genesis following the lives of Isaac's descendants, claiming they were the chosen ones of God.

We believe in it pretty much word for word. Its just that we don't go for the whole "God rested on the seventh day" deal, since in Islam, which is shirk and not good. That would be attributing a human characteristic onto God, whole creation recreating the creator deal.

And that a "day" is actually several million years or so, although I'm not too sure on the numbers.

We believe it was the Word of God, but it was changed by man over the years, so we're not allowed to refer to it.

It is my understanding that they do

Muslims, Jews, and Christians all trace their roots to Abraham of the Old Testament.
