O.K. with all these unbelievers in God, for those who believe - Have you ever seen him as you prayed?

I have had this experience, My daughter and I were having our family prayer - as I opened the prayer I saw in my mind the back of a mans head. He was turning toword me as if saying "Yes, I am here! Then I realized it was Jesus. I was so shocked I couldn't speak for several minutes. I haven't told many of this experience. But as I have said before. I don't beleive he is there, I know he is there. As he says in the scriptures - where two or more are gathered in my name, there am I also!

Tell me of your experiences Please!

Update:

Thanks for the offer but there is a true prophet of the Lord on the earth at this time - His name is Prophet Gordon B. Hinkley!

I will never deny or belittle your experience. I have seen no evidence of any supernatural help.

You say that you saw Him in your mind, and this is possible. You did not actually see him in the room with you. We can not actually see the face of God and live. We can have dreams in which the Spirit leads us. We can have experiences of God's presence or Jesus' presence in a non visual way. This is called a mystical experience and come with a sense of deep peace. What is called the peace that surpasses all understanding.

The most intense of these experiences happen early in our spiritual lives when we are the most unlike Jesus. It is very common for people to be confused by the experience and afraid to tell anyone. As we grow in the spiritual life the intensity of these experiences are not as strong. Then it is like visiting with an old friend.

These experiences are more likely to happen to people who engage in Christian meditation and centering prayer. It is suggested that one have a Spiritual Adviser if you are doing deep meditation for this reason. In your case you can talk to your pastor.

several years ago I was suffering a great trial in my marriage, and pretending it did not matter. I was in my kids' room one day, trying to forget my misery, at the time and reading a book, just a novel, and my eyes became glued to a passage in there that read: "Some men are like good bread."

I could not take my eyes away from this passage, and all the other words on the page became darkened, and this sentence was lighter, and I found that I could no longer remain sitting.

(In my mind) I was suddenly in a desert, with manna falling from the sky, and people going out to gather it off the ground. A voice that I heard, but didn't hear said: "This is me."

Instantly, I saw the last supper, in a simply made room with some men around a table, and the voice that I heard, but didn't hear said again: "This is me."

Then, faster than I could comprehend, every mass ever celebrated sped past my senses, and again, the voice said: "This is me."

There was more, but I cannot say it now.

It was at this moment, that I understood that Christ was there at the beginning, giving us his entire body and soul to us, and it happened, to him, almost simultaneously. I was filled with wonder at how time itself is under His command, and how He is so intensly nourishing us with every ounce he has.

I love to think about this from time to time. Thanks for the nudge. It is ALL manna from heaven.

I have not seen God, but I heard aloud those words you mentioned as well as a few others. God said, "I am with you John, I love You, Follow Me." I was alone at the time and at the end of my rope with what to do with life, job, etc. I guess I was searching for Him and He heard. I didn't have to see Him to know it was God as the words penetrated to my very soul. Only happened once, at least that powerfully, but for me it was the start of my new life in Christ. A real truthful miracle was occurring at the moment I heard His voice.

I remember being really scared as a teenager at camp. I was being forced to do a high rope course, about 80 feet off the ground, I was crying because I was so afraid of heights. My Mom had told me one time that if you are scared and you ask Jesus to be with you he will. So I started to pray to Jesus and told him how scared I was and asked him for help because I could not do it with out him. I felt him first then I saw him take my hand and help me through the course. I know he was there with me and I only got through it because of him.

The Divine can manifest into our conscience in many different ways. When close to our presence the experience overwhelms our capacity as humans to even use words to express it. Perhaps in life we can only get a "taste" and be left with a life time enlightenment and understating surpassing any and all riches. Scripturaly though it is written that no one has seen God , but only His messengers(angles). Anyhow thanks for sharing.

Lectio Divina is Latin for “spiritual reading” and represents an early monastic technique of prayer which continues in practice though less widely, intended to achieve communion with God as well as providing special spiritual insights and peace from that experience. It is a way of praying with Scripture that calls one to study, ponder, listen and, finally, pray from God's Word.

    History

Lectio Divina was first expressed in the year 220 AD. It was found that to read the Bible profitably it is necessary to do so with attention, consistency and prayer. The systematization of “spiritual reading” into four steps dates back to the 12th century. Around 1150, Guigo II, a Carthusian monk, wrote a book entitled “The Monk’s Ladder” (Scala Claustralium) wherein he set out the theory of the four rungs: reading, meditation, prayer and contemplation. In 2005, Pope Benedict XVI stated, “This is the ladder by which the monks ascend from earth to heaven.”

    Method

Lectio is typically practiced daily for one continuous hour. A selection from the Holy Scriptures is chosen ahead of time, often as a daily progression through a particular book of the Bible.

    Time

Selecting a time for lectio divina is important. Typical methods are to pray for one hour in the morning, or to divide it into two half-hour periods, one in the morning and one in the evening. The key is to pre-select the time that will be devoted to the prayer, and to keep it. Using the same time every day leads to a daily habit of prayer that becomes highly effective.

    Place

The place for prayer is to be free from distractions. This means it should be isolated from other people, telephones, visual distractions, etc. Some find a religious icon to be helpful. The same place should be used for lectio if possible, especially as one first begins to practice it. Familiarity with a location reduces the possibility of distraction away from the prayer. Some practitioners conduct other devotions, such as praying before the Catholic Eucharist, as a preparation for Lectio Divina.

    Preparation

Prior to reading, it is important to engage in a transitional activity that takes one from the normal state of mind to a more contemplative and prayerful state. A few moments of deep, regular breathing and a short prayer inviting the Holy Spirit to guide the prayer time helps to set the tone and improve the effectiveness of the lectio.

Once the stage is set it is time to begin the prayer. There are four phases of the prayer, which do not necessarily progress in an ordered fashion. One may move between different phases of the prayer very freely as the Spirit guides.

    The Four Moments

    Lectio

    Read the passage several times.

    Meditatio

Reflect on the text of the passage, thinking about how to apply to one's own life. Gravitate to any particular phrase or word that seems to be of particular import. This should not be confused with exegesis, but is a very personal reading of the Scripture and application to one's own life.

    Oratio

Respond to the passage by opening the heart to God. This is not primarily an intellectual exercise, but more of the beginning of a conversation with God.

    Contemplatio

Listen to God. This is a freeing oneself from one's own thoughts, both mundane and holy. It is about hearing God talk to us. Opening our mind, heart and soul to the influence of God. Any conversation must allow for both sides to communicate, and this most unfamiliar act is allowing oneself to be open to hearing God speak.

I had an experience where I was sleeping.....

The Lord sent an angel to me..... ((I know it sounds weird))... But, I testify it is true!!!

I was so afraid to look upon him that all I managed to see was the white robe and the sandals.....

He asked me to read back to him a book he placed before my eyes...... Unfortunately, there were no words on it and I was embarrassed that I couldn't tell him what it was.... Took me a little bit as I was trying to force words to be there that weren't... and I didn't want to lie to him... so, I finally admitted that I couldn't "see" anything there.......

    He was disappointed in me.....

    so, he tried something else.....

He asked me what I thought about the world.......

I looked upon it ((he took me above the earth in a vision, that's why I was looking at the earth)) and I thought it was just breath-taking...... and I told him it was beautiful......

He told me: "the earth is wan"........

I never heard that term before.... so, when I opened my eyes, I immediately got out the dictionary.....

It meant: Ill, reprobate, sick, disgusting.......

12 years later, he confirmed to me through a 12 year old boy named Ryan that the vision was true..... Because Ryan, had the exact same vision I did....... Except.... he told the angel that the earth was ugly... and the angel entertained him further.... That night Ryan's uncle died and Ryan saw in the same vision his uncle before his death.......

    God is spirit.

We worship God in spirit and in truth.

So here is my question, you were with your family in prayer, who beside yourself saw Jesus? Moreover what did Jesus say besides "Yes, I am here"?

I have my own conclusions to what you saw and heard, but what is important is your family and your family prayer.

One last note: What color eyes did Jesus had? Remember Jesus is in his resurrected state.
