Do you think that it is possible for Texas to play in the BCS National Championship?

I mean I would love for them to come back and play Ohio State again and this time beat them. Texas is not the same football team as they were when they first played OSU on Sept. 10. I also understand that I Michagan must lose to OSU on Nov. 18, but is it still possible that TExas can play in the Tostitos Fiesta bowl Jan. 4??? I mean even if Michigan loses to OSU who's to say that they won't play against OSU in the Fiesta Bowl??? What else has to happen to help Texas make it to the National Championship??? Your thoughts...

Update:

Thanks for the input creamdela and Kyle B. (maybe Burke?!?) but for some reason I thought that this year the BCS only takes into coutn Wins and Losses not the margins? If that is true then what are the chances for Texas.

Oh and BTW Louisville sucks and they are going to lose to Rutgers so I don;t want hear that bs. Arkansas! COme ON!!

Update 2:

What about now after Louisville lost!

They still have an outside shot, but they are depending on things they can't control. For them to make the BCS Championship game, they have to have several things happen. They have to win out, and win the Big XII Championship. Louisville must lose a game, or at least come really close to losing in all of their remaining games, as to make their BCS average go down. I really think Florida has to lose another game as well for Texas to jump them. Another thing that would really help Texas is if Nebraska wins out to win the Big XII North, that way when Texas plays them for the Big XII championship, Nebraska will have as good as a BCS average as possible. That would help Texas's chances the most.

    Hook'em!!!!!

True, the computer rankings of the BCS score don't take into account margin of victory, but the human polls part of it does-the Coach's Poll as well as the Harris Poll.

Yeah, it could happen. But probably won't. If #1 Alabama loses to #4 Florida, then you'd think Alabama would drop down to #4 or #5. If #2 Oklahoma wins the Big 12, they should move up to #1 because of the Alabama loss. #3 Texas doesn't play so they should move up to #2 with the Alabama loss. #4 Florida should move up to #3 with the victory over Alabama. That would pit #1 Oklahoma vs #2 Texas for the BCS NC game. But, I think the Harris Poll and Coaches Poll voters will make sure they rank Florida #2 and leave Texas #3, to avoid having 2 teams from the Big 12 in the NC game. Who knows what the computer rankings will do since we aren't allowed to know how their software works. I don't know but I wouldn't be surprised if the poll voters aren't calling each other and agreeing to move Florida up to #2 should they beat Alabama.

Texas would be my 2nd choice after THE OHIO STATE BUCKEYES beat Michigan. If the Michigan/OSU game is close, I see them playing again. If it isn't, then I am all for Texas playing either the Buckeyes or the Wolverines for the NC. I have done no research and really haven't paid much attention, but I like what I have seen from Texas and McCoy. I think they are more deserving than Florida and especially Louisville. I watched Louisville, and I saw nothing. Like the rest of the nation seems to be saying, OSU,MICH and Texas would kick the crap out of them. I don't think that their defense can stop Texas or OSU and I really think that any of the 3 teams could stop their offense. It would be a much better game if it was between 2 of the 3.

I am not expecting my Bucks to lose to Michigan, but in the sake of FUN, wouldn't it be cool to have Michigan and Texas play for the NC ? If the OSU/MICH game was real close and MICH won on a fluke. Then Texas, also in a close game, beats MICH., we could have on paper at least, a 3 way tie. OSU beats TEX at texas, MICH beats OSU, at osu and then TEXAS beats MICH in the NC game.

O.K. , I think that the pollsters and the # crunchers could make it possible because it would make for a better game and a better TV audience than would Louisville going.

Here goes some reality for you if Louisville goes undefeated the rest of the year they will play for the national title. Dont give me any crap about how they havent played anyone or anything else, you may want to go and look at the bowl games from last year and see what kind of damage was done by Big East Teams.

You want Texas in the Fiesta bowl or do you want them in the title game? They might go to the Fiesta Bowl but not the title game.

Here is the real way for them to get there:

    1. UM beats OSU bad - this eliminates the voters knocking down Texas as they don't want to see a rematch.

    2. LSU wins SEC West (ie. Arkansas and Auburn each have at lease one more loss)

    3. Florida loses SEC championship game.to LSU.

    4. Cal beats USC, but USC turns around and beats Notre Dame.

    5. Louisville and Rutgers each lose a game.

At that point its between Texas, OSU and Cal and it will come down to the voters as to which is set the highest.

Personally I don't like your chances.

you are a texas fan and are biased

you have to look at it from a neutral point

Ohio State is buy Far (FAR!) the best team texas has played

    (esspesially because of OSU's D)

and even though it was a close game ppl only look at the score (texas only scored 7 pts)

let me remind u again that U are biased

Now Imagine that texas and Ohio State get in and Ohio States wins again. Can You imagine how pissed EVERY ONE would be

seriously everyone would be going Crazy

I think that the big 12 is not playing Defense anymore and are starting to look more like the pac 10. (Texas = USC) So I'd like to see texas play an SEC team (LSU, auburn, FLA) just so they can prove me wrong plus it would be a good game

and I don't think the Longhorns should be looking past TAMU

    seriously

Arkansas? Come-on? A little respect please. If the Hogs win out and go undefeated in the SEC then they DO have a legit beef to be in the BCS title game, that's a big if but I don't think many would argue.

If I remember correctly Arkansas beat the sh*t out of Texas in the 2000 Cotton Bowl, beat Texas badly at Texas in 2003, and Texas barely escaped Fayetteville in 2004. Granted this is 2006, and none of that matters, I just wanted to remind you.

To answer your question, I think Texas has a legit shot at the BCS title game, even if UL goes undefeated (who have they played besides West Va?) There will not be a OSU Michigan rematch.... won't happen. Florida will need to loose out in the SEC title game, and another loss for USC wouldn't hurt either.

To be truthful, I hope somehow, someway, Arkansas gets a shot at Texas, cause' I really hate Texas.

well it looks like osu will get one of two rematches, either texas or michigan, they beat texas with no trouble at all at the beginning of the year, but since texas is playing better so osu might have a tougher time, but would still win. and they might play michigan again, but unlikely because it is such a late loss, so prolly louisville, is they win tonight that is

    G'day Samuel311,

    Thank you for your question.

I think it is possible but unlikely. Texas have to win all their remaining games preferably with big margins. Their rivals such as Louisville, Ohio and Michigan will have to lose games and not win by much in others.

Texas aren't in control of their destiny at this stage.

    Regards
