Public intoxication is such a ridicoulous offense. Most likley if you pay a small fine and I mean very small you should be able to get a plea of "withheld judication" which means that if you won't be on probation but if you do have another charge filed on you within the time the judge gives you the public intoxication will stay active. Don't worry about the offense you won't see any other court actions taken against you.

People who say this will have no effect upon your drivers license do not know what they are talking about. Most alcohol offenses in California carry a one-year license suspension if committed by somebody under 21. However, especially in areas like Isla Vista, there are generally alternatives to conviction available. If you cannot afford an attorney (which is likely) one will be appointed for you. your best bet is to get a defered sentense if you stay out of trouble for 2 years the charges will be dropped and wiped off your record
