Yes. I am a proud member of my local Daughters of the American Legion, and I plan to participate in a wreath-placing ceremony at the cemetary. This year I will bring more tissues than I did last year. When "Taps" is played, it is impossible not to cry.
I will also call a friend who is a Vietnam Vet, and thank him for his service to our country. Again. He is a lunatic who still carries the wounds (both seen and unseen) around with him, every day of his life, and all of MY thank-you's can never make up for the way he was spit on when he came home.
God bless America, especially in our darkest hours. We are truly the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Good question. I have to admit that I won't be doing anything today out of the ordinary. I completely respect past and present military personnel, but I don't really go out of my way on Veteran's Day or Memorial Day to do anything special for them.
Got any suggestions?

I'm a non-combat veteran and my flag is flying today. I wish I could see them on every house, but too many people think Veterans' Day is just an excuse for department stores to have another "biggest sale of the season".

Of course - I feel terribly sad for young lives lost in a senseless war, and I think that the ones still fighting are terribly brave. But they are only doing their duty - they didn't cause the war.

usually I would just stay home and watch the wreath laying on television but his year my daughter is in Guiding and the guides are partcipating so I am proud to go support them and our troops. Hope you had a great dinner with your friends, they certainly deserve it...
