Your winXP has nothing to do with it.

Your system, (BIOS and MB drivers) are the determining factor. If your board does NOT directly support USB 2.0, and you have a free "slot" you can buy an add-on board with USB 2.0 and appropriate drivers, and plug it in. Unless, of course, you upgrade the MB or buy a newer computer.

I had the same problem on one of my older computers, so I added a USB2.0 board and solved the problem. (The newer printer required USB2.0) It works just fine!! (Oh, that system uses win98SE!)

Most recent usb devices are 2.0 so, they work both for 1.0 and 2.0. But some usb devices are exclusively 2.0 and don't work for 1.0. Probably the Bluetooth you bought is of that kind. Otherwise it would have said "this device can perform better with a usb 2.0"

Also... some devices just don't work unless you install the drivers for it. So make sure you have installed the right drivers for it.

residing house windows XP SP2 could have the driving force if SP1 had it. probability is the USB ports have already got the right driving force for it. If no longer... attempt uninstalling the USB ports in gadget supervisor and reboot the laptop, residing house windows could re-set up the drivers for the USB ports whilst loading. make constructive before you are trying this which you eliminate all gadgets linked to the USB ports. as quickly as the computing device has rebooted and re-put in the drivers then plug the nokia telephone interior the USB port. desire this helps

    1. click Start

    2. click Run

    3. Type Device Manager

    4. Click ok

    In the device manger window

Click the plus (+) sign next to Universal Serial Bus Controllers.

If Enhanced Host Controller and/or USB 2.0 Root Hub Device is listed, then the computer has USB 2.0 ports.

If Universal Host Controller and/or Open Host Controller is listed, then the computer has USB 1.1 ports.
