Fellow Muslims, what is the true credit for fasting the six days of Shawwal?

I've heard it is anywhere from as if you had fasted the entire year, to an entire life-time. Do you know of any hadith that can answer this? Salam, Safiyah

Update:

Okay, do you see where it says Muslims? If you are not a Muslim, then you shouldn't even bother to answer, because your answers are not reliable.

Update 2:

Yes, IQ Girl, you are right. Safiyyah bint Huyayy was a convert from the Jewish tribe Banu Nadir. She turned out to be an outstanding Muslim, SubhanAllah. Masha Allah, I compliment you, sister, for knowing about that, Masha Allah.

    Look, sister,

According to my knowledge and understanding, when you fast Ramadan followed by six days of Shawwal, it's same, in reward (Thawab) as fasting the whole YEAR, and if you fast every year like this, Ramadan followed by six days of Shawwal, then it's like fasting the entire life-time.

    For more understanding:

Allah multiplies reward for man for doing a good deed by ten times.

So, when you fast Ramadan, you'll be rewarded as if you fast ten months. And fasting six days = sixty days (two months). Then ten months + two months = 12 months (1 year).

I hope I could clarify it for you, sister.

    30 days in month × 10 = 300

    6 days in Shawwal × 10 =60

    300+60 = 360

How many days do we have in each year?

    we have 360days.

Well, even if you don't get the amount of credit for it you seek, you'll have some wild hallucinations by day 5 or 6 so it'll still be worth it.

    :)
