With the Chase almost over, why wouldn't Jeff Gordon wait a few more weeks to get married?

My guess would be that now is the best time to get married. First, they were close to Mexico with this weeks race in Phoenix, then with only one more race in Miami next week, one week off and then the Nascar banquet in New York City the following week. That leaves 4 weeks off until drivers start up again with speed weeks at Daytona in January. They will more than likely travel on their honeymoon during those 4 weeks to Belgium to vist Ingrid's family and for Christmas. So, like I said, this was the best time to do it.

Jeff actually said a couple of weeks ago that he knew that their Chase hopes were over and they had converted the rest of the season into an experimental-type racing where they were going to try new things with the car and set themselves for 2007. Since he had all but decided he was out of contention and wasn't competing for the cup win - I would assume that getting married now would not be as big a distraction as it would be if he were hard charging for the Cup.

I think he should have waited...Jimmie Johnson made sure he got married in the off season so their anniversary would never be on race day...maybe he didn't want to get married the same time as Jimmie?!

Personally why does he have to anwser to anyone this.He has a right to do whatever makes him happy.He has a life other than racing and he has a right to live it just as you and I do.Im in no way a Gordon fan but I congradulate him on this.I feel like its great that he has shown his wife what she means to him.Everything!

Jeffie since he started with Ingrid he said that this relationship was quite different from a "normal relationship"

He probably didn't see it as a distraction. He is out the running for the cup anyway.

He was probably so in love that he just couldn't wait. I think he and his new wife look great together and hope they are happy. :)

To take his mind off of the goof balls that keep asking if he is gay.

because getting married makes you happy and with his luck he need something to make him happy.
