Are ticks black and spider like?

How would you know if one was in your ear or your child's ear? I found what I believe to be a tick crawling on my dog tonight. Without realizing it was even a bug I picked it off with my fingers. When I saw it was a bug I freaked and threw it. When I was looking for it I realized it was on my shirt. I freaked again and knocked it off me. I found it on the floor and squished it but now I am all paranoid. I feel like they are all over me. I checked my body and my children and didn't find anything. My ear itched inside (it isn't now) but it got me paranoid. Help! Please ease my mind.

    Hi

Do you live in a tick area? Ticks are kind of spider like, and can come in different colours from brown to black.

I have included some links for you to check out, that have some pictures for you. They can make you very sick, and can be found on the hair line, behind the ears, between to toes, under the arms, groin area and other folds of the body.

If you find a tick on yourself or someone else, you need to remove it with a rocking side to side motion, you must get the whole body out, including the head. It is advisable that you seek medical attention if you feel unwell, or the head is still lodged in the skin.

    Good luck

Don't freak out OK, stay calm, Ticks only get great in numbers if you live outside in the brush, take your clothes that you were wearing and spray with insect repellent outside, shower, wash dog, and inspect. Most ticks are "Dog ticks" and harmless. When removing a tick, never pull the body, the head my fall off in the skin infecting it, put a few drops of alcohol on the tick, remove with tweezers (in a pinch gasoline may be used). Put a tick collar on the dog, vacuum house.

i'm asking an identical element, after looking I felt critters crawling, i presumed they have been ticks because of the fact they have been involved in heat temperature yet under no circumstances bit, difficult to squish looked like a tick yet have been geared up head abdomen thorax like bugs, no tick ever gave the effect of this perhaps a spider yet no real id...retaining a specimen next time it warms up...perhaps get to call it...

Here is the Google image search I did for "tick":

Something else you should know - ticks do not make you itch, so any itching you are feeling is purely psychological. Do make sure to do a thorough check on your dog, however, especially for any deer ticks he may have picked up, and make sure to check yourself and your family for any ticks you may have gotten if you were out roaming with the dog.

Otherwise, calm down. It's going to be okay. If you didn't find any ticks on yourself or your children, everything should be fine.

It sounds like a case of the crabs.

Just kidding. You can use a special shampoo for your dog. Check with your local pet store. This should put your mind at ease.

    Good luck.
