Good roadside attractions?

My Hubby and I are planning to drive across the Country from California to the east coast. Could you recommend any cool unusual places to see?

    Are you going north or south?

    North: Wall Drug, Mt. Rushmore. Navy Pier and Milliumpark in Chicago, Sandusky Ohio, Niagara Falls

    Center: Yellowstone National Park, Appalachian Mountains

    South: Grand Canyon, Rte. 66, Redneck Riviera.

    Mount Rushmore in South Dakota is really cool. Good place to go camping too...
