Newborn boy - blood in nappy?
Every time I change my newborn boy's nappy I notice a pinky red stain in where he has wee'd. I understand that newborns can pass urates, but I understood these to be more yellowy orange. To be honest, it looks like blood. I will be getting this checked out by my midwife today, but if anyone has any useful or professional experience of this then I would appreciate your input.
No - he has not been circumcised.

Hello, when i had my daughter i breast fed and my nipples got cracked and bled and my daughter started to pass blood. When i spoke to my midwife she told me it was my blood the baby was passing and that it was completely normal. You don't say whether your baby is being breast fed but I'm sure it is nothing to worry too much about.

UTIs are not common with boys. Color can vary to pink or red, but as he is a newborn I would have him checked to be on the safe side. It is as simple as them sticking a little bag with a mild adhesive over to collect a sample when he does go and possible an ultrasound if it comes back positive for a lot of blood. Don't worry too much, just get him checked out soon.

Just wanted to say "Bless your heart for not having him circumsized!" I wish that more mothers here in the US were smart enough not to mutilate their precious baby boys.
As to the blood honey, you need to check that out medically. Talking to your midwife is a good place to start. If he is healthy in other ways and not running a fever there is probably a simple explanation to this.
Good luck

I would get that checked out. It's possible that he may have a urinary tract infection (more common in uncircumcized boys than circumcized ones), a bladder ulcer, or another urinary problem. If he has a fever or seems fussy, those are surefire signs of a UTI, but UTIs can and do exist without any warning signs. Either way, it is not normal to see any amount of blood in the urine. Definitely get him to the doctor right away.
Good luck!

If he was circumcised, this could be blood from the circ site. I'd still get it checked out tho...good luck!
