    Your best bet would be to check out consumerreports.org and compare them. That will give you a lot of good information about reliability, speed, etc that you won't find out reading the descriptions. Also a lot of what makes a computer good is what you need it for.

    I will tell you what I think ...

    I like the Toshiba because it has more memory, a bigger hard drive, dvd writer, and a bigger screen. It does weigh a little more than the Compaq but only .7 lbs.

    I would take to Toshiba over Compaq any day! Compaq does not honor their warranties! Their customer service is awful! I own two Toshiba's and have never had a day of trouble

    Personally I like Toshiba better because I have been using it for almost a year and have no problem with it.
