How much would you expect to pay for the installation of central air?
My home is 2000 square feet and has exsisting forced air duct work. I live in Colorado if that makes a difference. And a part two to the question, is it a good return on investment to have it installed? We're not looking for the best out there, but would like somthing in the middle. Thanks.

Considering you have the duct-work in place you are already ahead of the game. A friend of mine had just the upstairs of her 2200square foot house outfitted with central air. I believe she paid about $7,000. I think you would be in the $2,000+ range to have the compressor installed and wired in. To be honest with you, I am not sure what you can expect for your return on investment. You may want to contact a Realtor on that.

In central TX that would be about a 3.5 ton unit, as long as the existing duct is in good shape and you choose a avg unit with a good warranty you would be looking at 41/2 - 6 k.
Always good to increase the value of your home, think about a high efficient air filter also.

My neighbor and I both have 1800 sf quads in Suburban detroit.
He paid 2900 for a 90+ furance and ac unit two years ago.
I just paid 1800 for an 80+ furnace.
I think you should be looking at about 2-3k if you are just doing the AC.
Its a good return on your investmen, if it is something people expect to get when they buy a house on your street, and your house doesnt have one right now.
