For Harry Potter fans -- have you seen the McGonagall/Death Eater theory?

There are several essays floating around the Internet wondering if McGonagall is a DeathEater. Some points are pretty convincing. What are your thoughts?

Update:

Here's the link to one essay. I don't quite subscribe to this theory, but it does raise some very interesting points.

this is very good. a unique viewpoint that unlike the majority of hp theories makes sense and can be backed up by evidence from the book. it also isnt easily contradicted by other evidence because honestly....mcgonagall hasnt done anything ever. thanks for sharing! ill be sure to pass it along

Hmm. This essay is very poorly written, and the conclusions are weak. The author is very shoddy at character analysis - a person could have many possible motives behind an action, but this theorist insists the ONLY possible motive is the one that supports their theory! For every point he postulated, I could come up with at least three plausible alternates.

This essay was about as convincing as the average election campaign ad - stuffed with misleading half-truths and lacking substantive arguments. If this were a school essay, it would get a C-... and the passing grade would be only because of the effort and research involved.

I think it highly unlikely that McGonagall is a Death-eater. I do believe that either Mr. or Mrs. Black (Sirius's parents) was the one who destroyed the one horcrux, probably in revenge for Valdemort killing their precious son.

Something that bothers me is you know Valdemort killed the Potters, but what about Harry's other relatives? There were not only Potters but his mother's relatives and ALL are dead except his Aunt Petunia.

The Longbottoms were disabled by Death Eaters, of course, but what about Sirius's parents? And, for that matter, what about Snape's parents? Neither Snape nor any of his classmates can be much above 40. Their parents should be living.

I hope J. K. Rowling addresses that in the final book. I would like to know if the Valdemort targeted the parents of his enemies. I also hope that Harry will have a good conversation with his Aunt Petunia. She is not as dense as she appears.

I've never heard of it before.

I don't think it's true. It's probably spreaded around the net by a couple of people who don't have anything better to do or love Harry Potter so much they can't wait for the book to be published. Either ways I don't think it's true; I remember that before the publication of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix there was this site that had every one fooled. They had easily convinced every one that they knew what was going to happen in the 5th book and allowed visitors to download the full version for free!

I have never heard of the theory, but it does not seem likely.

I have never heard of this, but it sounds quite preposterous, imo.
