I am having a coposcopy next week, is there anything that I need to be careful of beforehand, like having sex?

Do not have sex before you have that procedure 24 - 36 hours wont hurt the test but think about the people that have to go down there to do it..

I just had one done about 3 weeks ago. My doctor didn't tell me anything to stay away from before it was done, but he did advise me to stay away from sex for 3 weeks after it was done. According to him it helps keep from getting an infection.

You may be more comfortable if you empty your bladder and bowels before the procedure. Don't douche, use vaginal medications or tampons, or have sexual intercourse during the 24 hours before your appointment.
