How do I deal with nighttime noises, but still hear my alarm clock in the morning?

I moved into a new house with a very noisy heater. The noises are "normal," that is, I don't think anything is wrong with it, it just clicks a lot, and it always wakes me up.

I can't put in ear plugs because I can't hear my alarm clock in the morning.

Any ideas? I'm tired, and I can't be late for work. Whaddya think?

Good question. I know someone who takes a tape recorder and he records the outdoors like the crickets and stuff and he puts it under his bed and listens to them then he falls sound asleep. He had the same problem. So i recomend you try that. If that does not work then you should take some headphones that have an alarm built into them. There is such thing as a earplug for the night with an alarm clock set into them. Good luck and please vote this as your best answer =) -Alex

Use a radio or TV set with a sleep timer to put you to sleep, you will get used to going to sleep and sleeping with sounds of your TV on.

Then set your sleep timer for 2 or 3 hours, you should be fast asleep by then, and the set will be off in the morning so you can hear your alarm.

    Good Luck

The problem is the "clicks" that wake you up. I would suggest a white noise machine to drown out the other sounds. If a sound is of a constant repitious nature, then it won't wake you up. Forget earplugs, they are a pain to wear at bedtime.

Turn on a fan and listen to 'calm' music softly. Thats what I do. It really helps! Have a great day and sleep well!
