Capture Lightening Static !?
Is it possible to contruct a pair of towers that would; a. capture the static build up in a lightening bolt BEFORE it discharges , b. convert the static to DC power and place in storage to send to the mains grid.
Could this be a source of energy in remote areas , that are storm attractions.

If you study the details of lightening, u will find that there are some strikes that are between the clouds. Some hit the earth. There is some detailed mechnisms described in books. There u will find terms like pilot leader, streamers, etc.
When the lightning occurs, the air gets ionised. So, even if u capture a Lightening in your tower, the air will become an ionised conductor, so the charge will go to thwe ground.
The strike from ground occurs as well as the strike from the cloud.
Above all it is not feasible.
Thank you.

A cloud is either positively charged or negatively charged. In the first case the cloud needs electrons to neutralize it's charge and in the second the cloud wants to give electrons to earth to form lightning. To capture lightening is not feasible. The only effect is in surge current which is not favorable.
