How many US troops have been killed in Iraq to date?

My 17 yr. old son is talking to my husband and I about joining the Army after he graduates. I am scared to death that he will get sent to hostle ground. I tried looking this up but couldn't find anything current. Must not have been looking in the right places...

too many have been killed, but don't worry, if the liberals have their way, all the troops will be pulled out and we won't have to worry about troops getting killed "on hostile ground."

we will be fighting on our own soil
