Why is the world outraged by Gitmo? It's just a prison to hold dangerous terrorists (right?).?

Guantonomo = Gitmo in case anyone was wondering

Lol, right and Bush is a good President.

They are outraged because people are being held illegally with no contact. They are outraged because where is the proof these people are terrorists. They are outraged because illegally holding people as terrorists then turns them into terrorists when they are released.

Cobra. heavily, its the toddler boomers. on the instant it ought to be the Iranian shield, the next day its the Somali pirates, next week its Al Qaida returned, ANY loosly prepared team with a keen suicide bomber makes the record however the worry-unfastened denominator above faith, ethnicity, or nationality is the age team of the leaders. specific the actual highjackers, suicide bombers, and so on.. is approximately eighteen however the lads at the back of the scenes molding the minds have been all conceived circa 1950. wait and notice what occurs whilst a extra smart era starts to pass in, distinctly over in the mid east. the USA could fall to the politcal wayside as quickly as we get some X-slackers in extreme place of work yet i do no longer think of the greed point would be as reported. Time will tell if i'm suited.

I for one am outraged (along with Bono from U2 as stated at the concert I recently went to). Guantanamo Bay is holding the Australian soldier David Hicks, he's been there for years, currently in solitary confinement and has never even had a trial. We need to bring him home or at least hold a fair trial. Total miscarriage of justice (I agree with Bob Dylan, justice is a game), and also a total waste of tax payers money.

Sigh, you are wrong. There is torture and it's radicalising more people. Not all prisenors there are guilty. Some have even been released, found not guilty, telling their horrible expiriences there.

Guantanamo is a disgrace to the US and the world.

The unlawful detention of "enemy combatants" at the US Naval Base at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba has now entered its fifth year. Hundreds of people of around 30 different nationalities remain held in effect in a legal black hole, many without access to any court, legal counsel or family visits.

Many of them allege they have been subjected to torture or other cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment. Three detainees have died at the camp, after apparently comitting suicide. Others have gone on prolonged hunger strikes, being kept alive only through painful force feeding measures.

Guantánamo Bay has become a symbol of injustice and abuse in the US administration’s "war on terror".

    Bush signs away detainees' rights

By signing the Military Commissions Act, President Bush is continuing to undermine basic principles of justice and creating a climate in which more human rights violations will occur. The only way of providing security for all and redress for the victims of terrorism is by delivering real justice.

Thousands of detainees remain in indefinite military detention in US custody in Iraq, Afghanistan and Guantánamo Bay. Congress has failed these detainees and their families.

The reason the world is outraged is because the press in the US and around the world runs stories about how bad it is without anything to substantiate it. The objections to Gitmo are based on what people think is going on there not on what is actually happening.

the biggest problem is that they have never received trials or been able to talk to lawyers. So they really have never had a change to prove they aren't terrorists. And the US has not had to prove they are. Plus, there have been many reports of abuse to the prisoners. that is sketchy considering we don't even know if they are terrorists or not.

The prison represents this White House's disdain for international law and the Geneva convention...The prison will do great harm to captured American solders by other countrys who want to emulate Americas arrogant stance on war criminals.

The only reason the world appears to be outraged is because the media has deemed that they should be outraged. There have been inspections by every human rights groups all over the world and non have them found a problem. But you don't hear that, because it goes against the media's agenda.

It outrages those who hate America. Unlawful combatants have no rights.
