It really doesn't make any difference. It's a difference in personality and is an insight of what the individual will do later in life, the whole right brian left bring thing. They have to take classes in both and they are important as you will use both in life. The argument could go either way, math is the universal language of the world. However, imagine a world without the arts, poems, languages, explaining math, ect. I would say reading is more important.

Basic reading is the most important. That is being abl30e to read and understand. Then basic math is next. It makes up everything. Then advanced math because if you are a scientist, you need advamced math. The least important is advanced reading because you do not need to know it in the real world. That is how I view it.

math is more important. Math is in everything. If you don't know math, then I believe you can go lying on the streets begging. You really need math in things like buisnesses and stocks.

Math and science are key. My dad doesn't care about my Language Arts and Social Studies grades in the report card. In Thomas Jefferson High School, They see Math, Science and Technology, not reading rubbish

Both are extremely important for pretty much any career that doesn't involve the phrase 'do you want fries with that'?

Reading comprehension skills are crucial, but so are basic math skills and, if possible, a grasp of algebra, trig, and basic calculus.

Your daughter needs to be able to pass high school math to really function in the real world.

reading is the foundation to all education. are there even any classes where there isn't some reading involved? how would you even learn math with out reading? hello?!?!?! story problems? you cannot strictly teach math with only numbers. reading really does improve intelligence and can make you a more well-rounded person in life.

Speaking as a math teacher, I feel that reading is paramount. If you can't read, you can't do math because you can't read the instructions. Those are the three most important words in teaching children how to do math well.... READ the instructions.

Teaching math is difficult enough without teaching a child how to read first. It is critical to teach to a child's abilities... if you teach over their heads, they might as well have failed the previous year.

Consequently, the math student who cannot read must be taught to read first, or they will never succeed fully in mathematics.

Although I am a mathematician, I would say reading. If you know reading, you can learn math. If you don't know reading, you can't learn math. Both are important, though.

Math is 10 times better because you can get so many jobs with math involved, but.... reading? what kind of job is that?

    Math is reading!!

If you cannot read, you cannot effectively learn or do math.

Hell, I am taking college courses right now and some of the required classes include Biology, Anatomy and Physiology.

After I took my placement tests, I learned that they base your placement on your ability to read and comprehend material. This included Math/Algebra. To answer your question, READING is obviously extremely (not necessarily the most) important!

all university degrees demand of course that you can read, but several students never get their exam because they are lousy in math

i guess when you want to study history, philosophy, law or languages then reading, for all other stuff math
