Is it possible (I know anything is possible) to be allergic to chocolate milk, but not regular milk?
Seems like everytime my child drinks chocolate milk, he throws up, but he doesn't do it to regular milk, or chocolate by its self. Could he be allergic to chocolate milk, and how is that possible?

that is a stumper. i have severe but controlled food allergies.
i would wonder if there isn't an additive in the choc milk like a stabilizer or emulsifier. that is prompting the reaction. have you changed brand s of choc milk? if 1 brand reacts and another doesn't brand 1 is the problem. could the milk be whole and he is used to 2 or 1%?
calling the milk company about this seems far fetched because if they don't have to put it on the label, they don't have to tell you and probably won't. BUT if you don't ask, the answer is always no.;
good luck
if you solve the question, if you could get back to me i'd appreciate it because this really intrigues me.

Well, throwing up doesn't seem like a normal allergic reaction to me. Breaking out in bumps or rash, turning a different color, sneezing, difficulty breathing, itching - those are more typical signs of an allergy. The throwing up seems more indicative of rejecting the taste. Maybe he just doesn't like the chocolate milk. That said, I'm not a doctor. You should take the boy to see one.
Assuming it is an allergy though, lets work with that for a minute. If he has an adverse reaction to chocolate milk, but not to regular milk, it would seem that he is reacting to something that is in the chocolate milk that is not in the regular milk. The obvious ingredient would be chocolate. But since your son does not have a reaction to chocolate alone, it is probably not the chocolate. To be sure, you would need to compare both the regular and chocolate varieties of your milk to find only the ingredients that are different (there's probably more than just the chocolate). Then test each separately (and under a physicians discretion) to find out if any particular one is the source of the reaction.
Good Luck!

Sure, you can be allergic to either the chocolate, the cocoa or the flavourings they put in the chocolate milk !

there are other things in chocolate milk other than chocolate and milk. a allergy specialist should be able to figure this out for you. allergies usually have more severe reactions than vomiting. it could just be some strange intollerance.
many of the ingredients in chocolate milk are also in ice cream if you want to try to experiment on him.

definitely. there could be more difference in the ingredients between choc and regular than just the chocolate and the milk.
clearly people dont READ. I for one noticed that you said he's fine with plain chocolate.

Your situation isn't comparable to the McDonald's warm espresso lawsuit, which alleged product criminal accountability. similar situations considering that, through ways, were disregarded. in case you'll locate an lawyer to take the case (and also you positively can), you're able to get IHOP to pay on your medical expenditures, yet it really is a huge if, because you've been no longer harmed. once you're searching for a huge payday which will ward off from having to purchase at Wal-Mart and eat at IHOP, this isn't it.

He's probably allergic to chocolate. Take him to the doctor and have them run an allergy test.

If he's not allergice to milk, but to chocolate milk, maybe it's the chocolate, or something in it he should be worrying about.
