IP address conflict?

My 2 daughters have received a new laptop each,I installed a wireless router and after lots of tries I could do a home network, now they are connected and everything seems fine but my computer (not a laptop) continues with the message that there is an IP address conflict with other computer and internet is interrupted (just in my pc), Does anybody know how do I fix this problem?

Thanks.

Do you know how many IP addresses you have set up in your scope? If you have enough for each device the run "ipconfig /release" followed by "ipconfig /renew" from a command prompt.

If that doesn't work turn your computer off for 3-4 minutes to clear the arp cache. This will force the router to recognize the MAC Address of your computer.

First of all an IP Conflict is when two or more computers try to connect to the same network using the same IP address. There are tow reasons for that, easier your router is configured to received a certain number of connections or your computer is set to use a user -speciefied IP address that is already used by another computer.

Click Start, click Control Panel, click Network and Internet Connections, and then click Network Connections. Right click on your connection (Local Area by default). On the General tab (for a local area connection), or the Networking tab (for all other connections), click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and then click Properties. You want to make sure everything is set to automatically get IP address... close everything and restart your computer.

P.S. If you still can't connect then you need to change the router's settings to accept more connections. And that depends on which brand and model you have.

pass into your community adapter settings and ensure any and all your laptop's are set to get carry of their IP without delay. in case you have a manually inputed IP handle replace the final form of the IP via approximately 15 the two up or down between 2 - 254 and that could sparkling up your ip conflict.

yeah .. this means that the ip of your pc , is the same as one of the 2 laptops, all you need is to change the ip of your pc

to do that in windows xp, go to <start> then <connect to> , then click on <Show all connections> ..then at the LAN icon, right click on it, and choose <Properties> .. then at the <general> tab, double click on the item < Internet Protocol TCP/IP> .. and then instead of using <Obtain an IP automatically> ... choose <Use the following IP> .. and give it IP different than both of the 2 laptops

    click on Start-

    go to Run...

    type cmd, click OK

in the Command Prompt window, type ipconfig then hit Enter key

that will show your IP address

for all computers, in the Command Prompt window, type ipconfig /release, enter den type ipconfig /renew.

it should do a re-issuing of ip address to the computers, and should solve the problem. had it once... heehee

Don't have enough information but based on default values. I'm gonna guess your computer is not using DHCP. Go to TCP/IP settings on your computer and set it to DHCP. MAke sure your daughters' computers are on DHCP as well. good luck.

Yes, go to www.portforward.com and set each computer with a staic IP address outside the normal DCHP range. (e.g. if it normally usses say 192.168.1.100-104 set your computers low, like 192.168.1.3, 192.168.1.4 and 192.168.1.5

Use the gateway addres for gateway and dns, you should be fine after that, also any port forwarding changes you make will stick to the right computer from now on too!

If your router is serving DHCP, restart your computer and it should get a new address.
