Standing in line for 2 days for a PS3?

Who thinks that's kind of silly these days? When everything is so available online, advance orders, etc?

It's not silly if someone really wants a PS3. Pre-orders were extremely limited. Gamestop.com isn't taking any online orders for the 60 GB until all the store pre-orders are fulfilled. Pay through the roof on E-Bay or any auction sites. All personally owned stores are charging around 1000 for the 60 GB model.

It is rediculous, especially for a system that costs between $500 and $600 (USD)!

I think the reason that people don't want to order them online, is instant gratification, and it gives gamers an excuse to leave the house. Plus, if you "advance order" online, your PS3 gets shipped out the day it becomes AVAILABLE. Meaning, it would be shipped out today (when the shipping co. opened for business), and it would take anywhere from 1-5 business days (no weekends!) for it to get to you. I think more people are just wanting it NOW NOW NOW!

But that's me... And I'm not even interested in buying one.

I think it is pathetic that company's do this to people. You and I know good and well that big companies like this don't just produce a handful of systems. They manufacture these things in large amounts. They probably have them stockpiled somewhere, they just ship out small amounts to create all the "hoolah" and make people spend outrageous amounts of money to be the first to get one. After Christmas they will be out all over the place and at a lower price. I think it's sad that they don't just release more of the ones already made to the public from the get-go.

it's not silly really sure they could have reserved it. but even those company's that took reserves only got a few. i got one on reserve but i had been on a waiting list since Aug. and they only took a 150 peeps on that list. so standing in line was the last resort for them. and Ebay your joking right look at this and tell me that's the way to go http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?cgiurl=ht...

but what really burns most people that stand in line out there is that most walmarts let there employees buy one before they put them on the self i know the walmart where i live does

Haha, yeah, I agree that it is silly.

At a best buy (can't remember where it was) but they went outside, knowing that they had exactly 140 consoles, and handed out 140 tickets to everyone in line, that way they could go back home, and come back afterwards and have theirs reserved.

Good plan if you ask me...

if you wait in line you can pay 600 dollars for ps3 or if you buy it online you can pay twice that much. the choice is yours

I think it is something....however I think I should use restraint and not say it here.
