Can you help me with the history and age of a bottle of Chateaux brand Creme de Menthe?

The bottle is a 4/5 quart clear glass bottle with screw top. It has the IRS tax stamp, number 338686709, with a price of $2.99 stamped on it. On the bottom of the label it says: "PREPARED & BOTTLED BY The Clear Spring Distilling Co CLERMONT, KENTUCKY" and says that it is a division of James B Beam distilling company. I'd like to know if anybody has a rough guess of how old this is, and since it's nearly full, if the creme de menthe is still drinkable! Thanks!

If it is $2.99 a bottle it must be about 40 to 50 years old. In the mid-1980s, a 4/5 quart bottle was selling for $7.99
