Why does the achilles heel show more on some people more than others?

I've noticed that some people have a more narrow achilles heel, which is the back of the foot below the calf, right above the heel of the foot.

At first I thought It was because of weight. Fat people = less shows achilles heel. Skinny/athletic = more shows achilles heel.

But I've noticed that this is not true because some fat people actually have more show of their achilles than skinny people and vice versa.

Update:

HOW WOULD YOU TONE FAT AROUND THE ANKLE SO THAT THE ACHILLES TENDON SHOWS??

People with tight Achilles tendon usually have it more pronounced. You will also notice a certain "bounce" when they walk. Other than that, there is no correlation between the width of the Achilles tendon and body habitus.

The more tone of the gastrocnemius and soleus muscles, and the less fat present, the more it will seem to pop out. More fat around the ankle would hide the tendon.
