Most babies are weaned from the breast much earlier than their first birthday and switch from formula to cow's milk when they are one. You can get pregnant while nursing, I have twice no trouble. Yor son is now eating solids, even if you still have gotten no period you can. Nursing is by no means birth control it can help deter pregnancy but only for the 1st few months of life.
