In the signing of the Declaration of Independence these men stood up to the most powerful country in the world saying "We will not be ruled without representation." In that they created our country which for all it's flaws is still the best and most free society in the world. In that one act they became outlaws in which their punishment would have meant their death had we not won the war for Independence.

The Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776, yet the American Revolutionary War raged on years. Had we not won the war, the signers would have been treasonous and punished, probably killed. Because we won, they were deemed patriots. It's interesting that the the French government were our strongest allies against King George and made the difference between winning and losing.

I'm sure they felt that they will be in danger after the king of England reads the Declaration, but they were willing to stand for their rights.
A salute to them!

Committing treason for something other than personal gain is quite couragous. It say that you give a damn about things and would rather die than let it go on.
