Psychology?

I've been thinking lately about psychology, especially my own psychology. I'm a pretty strange person, but then again, everyone is strange and there is no norm. That's besides the point. In this modern world, we have all sorts of 'diseases' and 'disabilities' and medicines, my question is, is this just inherent to us human beings? Must we find something genetic or something wrong with the way our body works and blame that? If so, why? If not, why not? I want to have a real good discussion about this topic.

By putting labels on themselves, a person can take the blame away from them self. "its not my fault I can't concentrate...I have ADD" for example. I am not saying that all people who have disorders/diseases don't need help, but it seems so often this is used more as an excuse than anything. Plus, you say you are depressed...you get pills..and suddenly...you have no more problems...or so it seems. Pills are a great way to just help you push the problems aside so you don't have to deal with them..kind of like a quick fix.

I watched Oprah earlier this week and there was this man on there who killed his twin 5 yr old girls (he had 3 other kids) because he said he was in a severe depressed episode and they were home from school sick that day. He blames his depression for his actions...which of course...totally takes the blame away from him. It was maddening to watch and I had to turn it off because he was making himself to be a victim totally....and he is not the victim here...his daughters are...he had a chance to get help time and time again...but didn't get it in the way that was needed and this tragic thing happened.

I think that if people took the time to help themselves and work through issues more, that there would be less emphasis on disorders and happier people all around.

making up a disease, a "mental illness" is an easy way to make an excuse for our differences, for our "problems" people don't like to take responsibility for themselves. and it's also a way for the prescription drug companies to make money.

when i was 15, my parents thought i was crazy or something. they threw me in a treatment center so someone else could fix their problem. well a doctor told me i was bipolar and put me on meds. i felt fake, it didn't feel right. i got off it as soon as i could and to this day i guess i still have bipolar. but I'm fine, i live a normal life. and I've never used it as an excuse for any of my behavior. i think people that do are cowards.

everyone and i say everyone have their inferiorities....some are good at hiding it...with all their all out aura of confidence...but yes, we have demons to deal with and its just a matter of dealing with it..how good we are and how well equipped we are to face them...and if we give a crap to the society we live in, we strive hard to conform and live the way it is more acceptable to others....and in spite of the conflicts inside us, we manage to live as normal as possible........

Believing that the body is real, creates sickness. It is a form of idol worship, how can something be sick that is not real?. Its a separation issue.
