plus Banoon that wont work without a hub or you have to use a crossover cable.

Easiest thing is just get yourself a pen drive, you can get a 2GB one for about £20 now and it will be the most useful device for the future, just make sure support for 98 is available, as a lot of manufacturers are now not making drivers for 09

well now, the easiest way to transferring documents or photos from one computer to another without any cable or wires is to copy them first on to a re-write CD disc, then put this disc in the new computer's disk drive then copy the file to "my documents" and if it's photo's to a folder in "my pictures",

make a new folder first though on the new PC in the

"my picture's" directory so when you put the photo CD in the new computers disc drive and copy them the photo's will have a folder to go to, its the same as if you wanted to copy music from your old PC to the new one, only this time it will be photo's, also by doing this you will a copy of your favourite photo's on CD just in case you ever wanted to do the same thing again on another PC.

one more thing to remember is that make sure that you get the correct re-write CD's as there are two types,

    *1/ CD-R or CD-RW

on the CD-R you can only copy the once,

on the CD-RW you can copy as main times as you like, this is a good idea if you make a mistake the first time.

    *2/ the other type is:

CD+R or CD+RW ,,,so make sure you have the correct rewrite CD's for the computer, normally it should be

RE-WRITE but make sure, read the start guide book that came with the PC to find out which one it should be,

    good luck Claire

If you have a network interface on the Portable then use this to transfer the data you want via Sharing your data drive.

If you have a CD/DVD burner then use this as an alternative.

Additionally if your portable is running Win 98se(second edition) not just win98 then you mabe able to plug in an external drive or memory stick to copy the data. Failing this consider Floppy disks(yuk) or a serial data transfer lead or a Compact flash card in a PCMCIA adaptor. The list is endless depending on what you have available!

You can share the files and copy them over the network. How to in the source. Good luck. Wait?? You are transferring from two physically independent computers right? If not, add permissions to the folders you need to access for your new user and copy them over: Right click folder Properties Security Add user Find and add your user Give full control Cut and paste the files and folders you want.

    use this way...

Connect your computers through a lan cable..

    Go to the Network Connections...

one click on the local area connection and choose from the left menu (change the settings of this connection)...

From (this computer use the following items) menu choose (internet protocol) and then Properties..

    write your IP address ..

and make the default gateway is your computer IP, too

in the DNS server write the IP address of the computer you want to transfer with..

Do the same on the second PC...

right-click on the My Network Places and choose (search for computer on the network)

and write the name of the second PC

    double-click on it..

    choose (shared documents)..

drag the files you want to transfer and drop it on the shared documents folder...

go to shared folder on the second PC from (my documents) and you'll find it there
