So the US is talking again about bringing back the draft. How do you feel about that?

Personlly I think we should offer criminal offenders a jail sentence or time in the military . If someone is sentenced to over 3 years in prison for anything but rape or murder, they should have the option of serving in the military. This would cut down on over crowded prisons and we would need no draft.

It is not that we need a draft, it is a play from this gentleman, he thinks that congress and future presidents will be less likely to go to war, if there is a chance, their own children and kids from their home towns will be the ones fighting over there. As of right now, no person who is high up in Government has a child in the military. It is okay for my husband and others, but not for their children. Also, there are a lot of young men that could use a wake up call. To realize there is more to life than drugs, sex and drinking. I think it is a great idea. Your idea is also good, except there would probably be an increase in AWOL if convicted felons were sent to war. I don't think I would trust my husbands life to a convicted person. Your unit depends on the trust of every other soldier, and I don't know if that would fly to well with the other soldiers, having to depend upon a criminal, but if they worked in the kitchens and did janitorial work over there, that could be good. It all needs to be refined.

First off I say NO criminals in the military. Put them where they belong and if the jails get over-crowded then build more jails. Now about the draft, I'm 100% in favor of it. I was drafted in 1969 and it probably save me from going to jail or worse. I was getting into a lot of trouble and had no respect for anybody or anything. Sound like a lot of kids today don't it. I soon learned what real men act like and I learned to respect them. Yes it was hard on me and my family but that's the way its been since the revolutionary war but we still have to have a military or we wouldn't have a country. So who belongs in the military ? I think everyone should take their turn and that means everybody. The rich, the poor, sons of immigrants that are now citizens, ( that might help solve that problem also ) and don't forget the women. They want their rights too so we can't exclude them. No body wants to pay for the right to live this good life we have here today but the fact is that a lot of good men and women have already payed and the least you could do is give this country 2 years of your life. Freedom isn't free so pay up.

Draft is a way to even things out in the military. I hated the draft when I was 18, the lottery, and never knowing for sure when you had to go or not. It was more fair to have all types of people in the military.

The DEMOCRATS are wanting to bring back the draft. Not republicans. I don't think we need a draft and personally I don't want one. We don't need the headaches caused by the draft. We end up with jerks and crooks like John Kerry.
