Do astronauts ever iron their clothes when they are in outer space?

I was surfing the http://www.extremeironing.com/ website when I wondered whether anyone had ever ironed up in space.

Yes they do and- as always- it is the silk ties and cummerbunds that cause most of the problems. But a white tie dinner in un-ironed attire is not to be thought of!

I have heard, however, that silver service in space is not a patch on what you get on terra firma.

No. rather, cigarettes and cigars are actually not allowed on spacecraft - Russian, American, or chinese language. There *has* been a minimum of two fires in area, the biggest, and maximum deadly, on board the Mir area station; i think it became Michael Foale who became on board on the time, his account of that's wonderful. On board Skylab, a small oxygen generator caught fire, in spite of the undeniable fact that it became without delay controlled. There've been experiments with small adventure-like flames in area a pair of cases, the main cutting-edge I bear in mind being on the commute's experimental lab in the early 80's.

Why would you want to do the ironing if you were in outer space? I could think of a thousand things I would be interested in if I was in outer space. Ironing = sad.

nope! Neither do they wash very often. In space they arn't up there long enough to procees their clothes, the machine would be heavier than having new clothes to wear and in space water would be a killer to electronics if it leaked. Water and Mass/Physical space are all limited so it's not even practical to wash/iron in space :)

I think after worrying about having enough fuel and that the rocket can bring them back to earth safely ironing their clothes is the last worry on their mind - then again you always get that one weirdo xXx

That would be a pretty funny thing to see attempted in a zero gravity environment!

They probly don't iron them on earth. Why would they in space!

Yeah, but first they've got to get them in off the washing line...

    Jeez, why would they bother?

Unless you're Steven Wright, there are surely other things for you to think about.
