Found a brown tick on my cat, not sure if I got the entire head out.?
Healthy 9 year old act, is active outdoors. I have never found a tick on her before, I am a little concerned, since I'm not 100% sure I got the entire head of the tic out when I removed it. I did soak the area (around her neck) with rubbing alcohol, she shows no signs of illness. Any opinions as to what else I can do?

peroxide works better, it will boil out the head if it is still in there, also, if it is still there, it will fester out on it own, just like a splinter.

Fiinding a tick on a cat is very rare, since they seem to be able to reach most spots themselves, & groom themselves frequently so most ticks don't get a chance to stay long enough to attach. Unlike the poor old dogs. If their appears to be no redness around the area you probably got it. Proxcide would take out any infection should it appear or you are not sure.

You've done everything you can do-- if the head is still in the cat, it will fall out eventually-- it can't grow a new body. Try putting Frontline on her to prevent fleas and ticks. Good Luck!!!

It should come out on its own- my grand parents always burned a tick to get it to pull its head out of the animal before removing it. Weird huh.
