    Using better terms may help you in finding answers: The study of water is HYDROLOGY, are you taking about WATER PURIFICATION? that's what weuse to describe making water POTABLE or drinkable in the U.S.A., I'm not sure what you mean about settling water - it tends to settle itself while we attempt to control it through damming, diverting, or drilling wells into aquafers or existing underground water.
