racial question?
Where is the outrage from the miniority community when a black person like chris rock or richard pryor(sp?) insults a white person but many get upset when a white person insults a black person?

Because only whites can be racists. This world is backwards. Stupid white people bend over backwards to help these minorities out and what do they get? Someone calls a black something they don't like and all hell breaks loose. Minorities should grow the hell up and shut up.
" Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me."
Whenever a black commits a racial crime against a white they can be shouting "die cracker" over and over while committing that crime. And it still will not be labeled as a hate crime.
EDIT
To those who bring up slavery. GET OVER IT!!
It was abolished well before your time. It doesn't affect you in anyway in today's society except when you feel the need to use it as an excuse to get your way.
Most people came over here after it was abolished so your excuse doesn't have a damn thing to do with them. Therefor I have no guilt.
Also if you all are so hellbent on equality then quit your complaining about being called certain names. White people don't complain when we get harassed by you or made fun of by your "comedians". Also since you want equality get rid of Affirmative action since that just basically gets you a job regardless of your skills but just because of your skin color.

Let me start by saying that rascism is not acceptable. No one in this world should have to tolerate any kind of abuse at all, especially when it is with regards to their ethnic background - we all look the same on the inside, right?
However, I think the tolerance for the (pretty mild) rascist comments from black comedians against white people, comes from a sort of sense of guilt about the last few hundred years of hideous abuses (slavery existed in the US until 1865, and apartheid or segregation was only abolished there in the late 1960s while the UK abolished slavery in 1883) inflicted upon black people, primarily by white people; white people feel on some level that it may just be a tiny bit deserved.
Does that make it ok? No. Not at all, but maybe it explains it a little; comedians like these should really be able to think of something better than resorting to abuse, but what can you do? people pay to see it - chris rock is popular with a hugely mixed audience here in the uk, so maybe its us, the audience who must ultimately change.
As for individuals making rascist comments, regardless of race, if they do it in front of you, and it offends you, tell them! I have done it more than once, and I find that the majority of people apologise and at least think about what they have said. Can't say fairer than that :-)

I understand where you're coming from. A lot of people are going to try to explain or justify the difference, but the fact is that it's just a double standard. It's not fair, but it's the way it is. A black person calling a white person a "cr-cker" is going to fly much easier than a white person calling a black person a "n-gger".
White people aren't generally threatened by that kind of speech. It's for that reason that we don't make a huge fuss about a black comedian making a racist comment or that moron that we can see in videos on You Tube talking about exterminating white people. We don't need to blame all of our problems on the black man, we don't need to dignify that nonesense with a response.

i live in south africa. dont know if you have heard of the apartheid. yes it has been stopped but the role i believe have just swap around. the slightest thing a white person says - for example my friend was almost killed by a black drunken driver last week, when i tell people it was a black guy they say im being racist. im not. im just pointing out the fact that it was a black guy. the cops wer black too and the drunken driver didnt even spend the night in jail or get a fine. why - because he is black and they think they were previously disadvantaged so they dont belong in jail.
the apartheid ended in 1986. 20yrs ago. and the children at school are still using it as an excuse. yes in 1994 it was official because they could vote but come on. a child of 15yrs cant use that as an excuse. he doesnt even know what it was like then. all that he has is his parents views on the whole thing.
the older black generations say that they prefered apartheid because there wasnt much crime and that it was a safe environment.
come to south africa and see how racist the black people are towards the whites.
i mean just yesterday on the news. one of the ministers called the white people "indiginous europeans" and about 2yrs back they said if the white people dont like the crime we must just move out because we dont belong here.

I guess I will not win a popularity contest here and I will agree with "Momofoneandahalf" on principle, blacks use epithets among themselves (especially the "n" word) and that's ok... Talk about racism? I think black people are the worst racists, think about this: Do we have "White Entertainment TV" Nope... but if we did we would be racists... Do we have "White TV Awards" Nope... but if we did we would be racists... I see, in everyday life, "black attitude" towards white people with no cause or reason, simply because the person is white he or she is denigrated or treated bad... In the case of the Michael Richards episode he was WRONG, no doubt about it but if you watched the video 1- He was hackled by two black guys, if his humor does not fit their "culture" why did they bother going to that show? 2- He was called a "cracker ***" by the black guys... so I would say that racism in this particular case was a stalemate. When black comedians make fun of white people (need I mention dozens of black comedians who have and still do?) do we make a big fuss? No because if we did, we would still end up being racists because we are not tolerant. So you know what? The hell with all of you and this. In my opinion, the ones that keep bringing "racism" and keep it "alive" are black people themselves. Maybe it suits them to have this excuse to fall back on?

As a bi-racial person answering this, I feel everyone should be outraged when blacks are insulted by whites, just as when whites are insulted by blacks. We as African-Americans have a long history of racial discrimination and anyone who depicts behavior that is a reflection of that is wrong. In the same sense, that does not excuse racism or prejudice towards white people. There is no good reason to justify such ignorance. While I do agree with some points made regarding this question, we as black people should not allow ourselves to stoop to such a level of prejudice and think that it is justified because of our horrible history. We, like any other ethnicity, are better than that and shouldn't give ourselves an easy way out of igorance.
As far as Michael Richards goes, I would hope he gets the same treatment mel Gibson got for his comments. I worry that society won't care as much about this just because he was making racial epithets towards blacks, which is so common some may turn the other way instead of villifying him as the should.
As for "motherofoneandahalf", such a silly and uninformed answer. You have embarrased yourself with your lack of knowledge and I hope you educate yourself so your children aren't as ignorant as you are.

Well White ppl never complain or fight against such insults against them. Anytime anyone who isn't Black says something about us, we defend ourselves. I think the majority of White people still feel guilty about slavery, so they just laugh and hold their true feelings inside. I don't think it's right to insult a whole group of people based on stereotypes. I don't know every single White person on the face of the earth so I can't go around insulting them because that would be ignorant. But Chris Rock is a comedian, and he talks about the issues going today. Most white ppl and Black ppl stay divided so there is always tension and differences so he makes light of that.

I'd like to know the answer to that question as well. Its probably because its a lot easier for white people to make fun of black people. When a black person comes up with an insult to white people, they want the world to know they thought of it.

While I don't think it is right or funny....
Come on, do you seriously need a history lesson? Because of the history of oppression against black people it is just not ok for white comedians to make jokes at the expence of black people. Racism has a long history in the USA, and continues to this day (just look at all the racist people on here)
Comedians tells jokes like that because people find it funny, if it got no laughs, they wouldn't tell it. So, white people and black people laugh at jokes that are discriminatory to white people, so black comedians are going to keep telling those jokes. Besides when black comedians tell jokes about white people, it's usually about red neck white people, not white people in general.

I'm sorry, but "n*gger" and "honky" or "cracker" are not the same. There is hundreds of years of pain and racism that the N word carries. And, obviously its still a big deal... otherwise it wouldn't be getting so much attention. Minorities have to deal with stuff like this every single day of their lives. And being that white is the preferred race anyway, it makes it that much worse. I don't think its right to use racial slurs towards anyone. But, there is still a world of difference.
