When do you put up your live Christmas tree?
I'm wondering how long before Christmas everyone puts their trees up. I don't want it to die too early. Any advice?

My entire life we have used fakes trees. I've never had a real one. And I don't feel I am missing out at all. Here's the thing: We always have the fake tree around in storage. Which is nice because we don't have to worry about picking a new tree every year, how much it will cost, what size, is it sturdy, etc. You know exactly how the tree is going to be and how well it will stand. There is no maintenance as far as keeping the tree healthy or anything. So you can put it up whenever and just let it go. Ornaments and decorations hang nicely on it. The only way I will get a live tree is if I had a significant other who insisted on it, and I would do it once just for a new experience. But I am completely satisfied with fake.

I live in Oregon and we cut our own tree so we know it is fresh. We go get ours the day after Thanksgiving and they will last until the end of December. If you are buying one from a tree lot, like in a parking lot or something it doesn't matter when you buy it. The trees are all cut down way ahead of time and so the earlier you get one the better chance you have of getting a fresh one. Either way make sure you water it often and don't wait to the last minute (or you'll end up with a tree that's more like a cactus!).

We always put our live tree up no later then 2 days after Thanksgiving. As long as you get a fresh tree and water it constantly it should last until New Years

We just put ours up a few mins ago. The day after thanksgiving. This is the second year I have done that. Usually we used to wait until Dec 15 because that was one day after my niece's birthday, she used to live with us and I wanted to keep her birthday and christmas sepearte. Our tree is a little 3 foot fake one, new ornaments this year it looks great

Since our tree is artificial, we usually put it up right after Thanksgiving. However, when we did have a real tree it went up about 2 weeks before Christmas, and we were diligent about watering. However, you need to make sure you get the freshest tree possible by checking to make sure the needles are not dropping before you buy it.
Hope this helps.

The day of or the weekend of Thanksgiving is when we put ours up and its lasts till the end of December. When we take down our tree its still healthy. Just to be safe I would put it out the 1st week of December, depending on how you want your electric bill priced :D

We usually get ours and put it up the first or second week of December. That way it lasts. We take ours down after the new year, have been doing it for 5 years and never had one die on us.

We put up ours the day after Thanksgiving. But we also put a small cup holder full of water underneath the tree trunk to keep the tree moist and green.

i gave up on live trees -- make a live garland to make your house smell nice but keeping a tree is a pain. its a lot easier putting lights on a tree when the branches come off too.
if you have to get a tree the second week in december and make sure its fresh. you want it to last til jan 1.
